WEEK 4 - CC1: Paper Panic
To be honest, I spent a 3 hour session on this exercise and wound up back at the beginning, but I knew more about the Mac setup and Studio 2 than three hours earlier. I re-laid the samples back into ProTools from the region list, packed up and went home. Eventually I got it together and below is the result of my (mis) adventures. This is a full screen view of the completed sequence for Paper Panic (Paper Drowning?). When I finally stopped exploring and went with what I knew, I decided to base the piece around the e-e sound at the beginning. This is the last part of SlowWithVup. A recurring motif. I added a little delay to this so the right side is slightly behind, then commenced slicing, dicing and stretching.
I tampered with each sample one by one. Having laid them on individual tracks in ProTools, I then shortened Paper Saw and it now serves as an introduction to the rain. Metallic Ring, which is the end of SlowWithVup, represents the paper sensing something is afoot, and the paper motif is repeated.
UnwantedLetter is now a kind of intermingling of the rain and paper, as the paper slowly becomes moist.
SlowWithVup introduces the rain proper, and it's getting heavier. PeakyCrinkles makes an appearence, a sign of things to come, and the intermingling motif reappears.
Finally, a gush and the end is nigh. A few final squeaks and it is over. With PaperSaw, PeakyCrinkles repeated, and then a barrage of PaperSaw. The A4 can only offer a couple of squeaks.
Damp and done for ...
