CC1 – Sem2, Week8: Performance Sequencing 2

Wow. An Ableton Live Set is an organic thing. It expands, contracts and over time, changes character repeatedly. Limiting? A pile of samples and your imagination and, once again, the possibilities are endless - how much time have you got? I took great pleasure in doing this exercise, blowing the cobwebs off the sample collection and warping some of my own things. I appreciated the creative freedom.

Again, the format is a block of 16 samples and me playing them live. As I worked on this exercise, I kept half an eye open for possibilities for the CC1 project and it seems there are plenty. If I can warp a live instrument/microphone input the same way as pre-recorded samples in real time, I'm excited. Will try that out tomorrow with myself inputting.

After considerable warping and stretching, chopping and sectioning, I recorded a mix. Playing back in the arrange view, I noticed something curious. If you are listening between bars 45 and 46 (for instance), if you click bar 32, the little triangle flashes there and at the end of bar 46, bar 32 is cued! How cool is that? Wondering if there is a way to record your 'live' mixes of the recorded sequence ...
