WEEK5 - CC1 - Consequences of Crumpling

I had a lot of fun creating this sequence and could have had a lot more, but I wasn't going to make the same mistakes as last week. I kept things simple. I arranged a rough sequence and saved it to an appropriate folder on the Temp drive then saved a copy of that folder to my hard drive. Things go pear shaped? Reload.
The concept is the expansion and contraction of a piece of A4, it's crumpled state reminding us of what happens over the years as we progress through life. We get a few wrinkles, and hopefully a few on the brain! I began to think of the fresh, clean piece of A4 in it's pristine state as the beginning of a time line. A life changing event or two, we get crumpled, but in time we uncrumple, and you can see the noticeably crumpled but intact A4 in the final picture. You could write on it, despite everything!
I began with effects, putting the FunkLogicMaster plug-in on the first track and some delay on the chirp sound (track 7) which represents the piece of paper (again).
Once I rediscovered the pan and volume options on each track (lost them for awhile - thanks Doug) I began to experiment with automation. I applied a slow pan on track 1, then volume at maximum on 2, pan from side to side then centre on 3, panning side to side on 4. In hindsight, I feel I went about track 5's volume automation all wrong. The volume lift then drop at the beginning of each audio object should be inverted. I should have raised the weaker volume as the sound petered out, increasing rather than decreasing the angle of volume over time.
