WEEK 11 – Forum: Construction & Deconstruction #2

Simon Whitelock: DJ Jack the Ripper

What does the J in DJ stand for? Disc Jacker! Simon sped us through a post-modern musical world, constructed from fragments. A comprehensive knowledge of and familiarity with the music you're dealing with is deconstruction. That noted tambourine shake from the extremely rare Motown album I can't remember the name of? Motown, year, artist, album, track, bar, beat ... Now comes the construction part. Or re-construction, like reclaimed building materials. (1)

Nathan Shea: Kill (and possibly eat) All Non-Worshippers (99.99999999999999999% of world population (2)) of The Satan That I Alone Worship (but I'm not angry)

Interesting black hole, not sure about the overtones. Interesting, yes, but hard to see the point besides the bleedin' obvious. A rejection of society? You could relate that to deconstruction on a broader level, and the fact this music creates factions is what disturbs me. This music is about deconstruction, alright. It is about dividing people(s), thus preventing understanding and communication; alienation grows and ignorance prevails.

When you don't understand something? Kill it, of course. The crew of Team America and the kids of South Park would be proud. Certainly the mindset of many American fundamentalist Christians, the people black metalists are supposedly revolting against – they all wanna kill jews and blacks! Damn, they've aligned themselves with a society they hate! Great minds think alike. Would they then want to kill and eat themselves for thinking the same as Christian fundamentalists? Now that's deconstruction.

Welcome to my nightmare - http://www.nsbm.org/

Unblack metal? … http://frostlikeashes.com/photos/ (3)… weird.

… and this page covers both groups admirably: http://www.evilbible.com/Top_Ten_List.htm

" Is it getting better, do you feel the same?
Will it make it easier on you now you've got someone to blame? "

"One" - U 2

As for low tech - I used a four track cassette recorder for years. Very flexible. Combine with stereo recorder/player, microphone - hours of fun without touching a razor blade (to splice tape that is!). Get into some low-tech black metal and do some 'jackin' at the same time.

John Delaney: Filmic Brooding

'Brian "Lustmord" Williams has created a sound that epitomizes the subgenre of dark ambient.'

'the darkly ambient quality of nightmares that take you to the blackest of abysses.'

http://www.epitonic.com/index.jsp?refer=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.epitonic.com%2Fartists%2Flustmord.html

Lustmord is Brian Williams. I love that. Lustmord is the dark prince, Brian gets constipated. Lustmord is darkly ambient, Brian likes choclate muffins. The illlusion crumbles and is revealed ... Brian Williams. Lustmord deconstructed. Enjoy his evocative style.

Find out more, he's up for a chat … http://www.linkedin.com/pub/0/141/992 ... and his MySpace site is definitely worth checking, great sounds: http://www.myspace.com/lustmord

Agreed! I did some research and he seems like a really interesting chap, does Brian. Uncountable, unique spaces in the imagination ...
