CC1 – Sem2, Week 5: MIDI Sequencing II
I chose Birthday (Lennon/McCartney). I used Reason for all instruments on the original sequence and BirthdayWorked.
The original sequnced bass part (key-editor view)
* Basic drum kit. Fills changed/added and hi-hat halved throughout.
* Bass 'funked up'. Octaves and an attempt to 'lock in' with the drums via short riffs.
* Guitar jabs; the best choice always with this caper.
Strange thing; as BirthdayWorked became 'naturalised', I started to relate to the parts as human recordings I could manipulate (Mus Tech of the future?)! The instrumental styles were growing personalities. A throw-together band having a crack at an old Beatles number in a band room.
Result: Half robot, half human. Has funky bits and another few hours would do it (but life's too short)!
